Story: Very original concept. We have this so called god that gathers together an alien, time traveler, esper, and a "normal human" to form a club. But this "god" doesn't know that she has gathered all these strange people. And ironically enough, the purpose of the club is to find aliens, time travelers, and espers and have fun with them. The purpose of the club members is to keep this god entertained so that she won't destroy the world. What I like about this concept is that not only is it unique, it allow many possibilities in how the story is told. The author makes full use of everyones special abilities.

Animation: All credit goes to Kyoto Animation for really using this concept to its potential. What so great about the animation is all the detail it has. Each story is uniquely portrayed and really shows what the author had intended. KyoAni also cleverly implanted all these subtle actions that reflects the actions in other episodes so when you rewatch this you will be like "oh I see why she had this reaction" in case you missed it the first time.

Sound: Two words: Hirano Aya. She sings the opening, ending, the two insert song, and is the heroine in the anime. Each song is very catchy and fun to listen to. You wouldn't believe all these songs were sang by the same person, but Hirano Aya has a huge vocal range. Voice acting is also really well done. Each voice really fits their character.

Character: Probably the best thing about this show the very unique cast of characters. It is really very rare for me to be able to like all the characters (even Itsuki). Each character appeals to you in its own way. But the biggest factor is the subtle change and growth of the characters. I had a great time evaluating the characters at the beginning of the series with them at the end. KyoAni really know how to do their stuff.

Replay Value: Moderately High. With such details, you would need to watch it over to catch all the details. Furthermore, the way KyoAni set up the episode order, at least one more watch is in order.

Overall: This was a great experience. It rare these days for a show to really overwhelm you. I have never enjoyed an anime this.

Before writing the review, I would like to tell every one of you that this series does not have action, so action only seekers, please excuse and don't ruin it's records by dropping it. This series is mostly Sci-fi and drama, and consists of little bits of Romance. This is by far the most realistic and teachable anime for me, there are so many things to learn by watching it. This is a futuristic slice of life that contains a lot of themes that pertain to human nature.

Now if that's settled, let's move on to the review.
Set in the 2075 AD, Planetes traces the lives of the two main characters, Ai Tanabe, an innocent young woman who is recently arrived in space, and Hachimaki (Hachirota Hoshino), a young, churlish, but experienced EVA worker. Both of them work in Debris section which retrieves debris from space. The debris section consists of fairly good amount of interesting and resolute people, except for some idiots.

    Story: (10/10)
The story revolves around several characters residing in the Space Station ISPV-7, owned by the Technora Cooperation. Their job is to retrieve space debris. Up till the first half of the series, the episodes are like individual pearls, i.e. they are independent and mostly all of them are aimed towards all the crew members of Debris section. One should not think that these are fillers and contain mindless crap, instead the first half is what is more concerned with character development and believe me you'll see the difference in the second half.
Throughout the show, many points related to future space travel are addressed, such as the obvious problem with space debris, the problem with space radiation leading to cancer and other disorders, the concept of space born children suffering from the lack of normal gravity, etc. These are all consulted and are integrated with the overall storyline.
The main plot of the show will be shown most likely in episode 16, that is the point where the series takes on speed. Terrorists attempts to slow down development in space. These episodes after 16 are very tense, with a lot of intense drama.
The ending, in my opinion, was the best part of the series. The Climax was just amazing, During that period your mind would probably be thinking - What will happen next? Will terrorists win? Were humans all wrong by coming out in space? etc. Unlike most animes, the ending was apt and appropriate.

    Characters: (9/10)
The underlying strength of an anime resides in it's character development. This has been considered fairly deeply in Planetes, the overall character development is great in the series. Like I said, The first 15 episodes, i.e. the first half, is mostly aimed towards the characters, so you'll find the characters to be all mature, except for Hachimaki who takes a stupid and kiddish decision on his own in the later half but he soon realizes that mistake.....[Blocked due to spoilers].

    Animation: (9.5/10)
This could be said Sunrise's one of the best projects. The animation is very crisp, more like "Realistic". The use of CG on the space station was a very good move. Monitor screens for the helmet are well conceived and the diagrams of orbits were nicely drawn.

    Sound: (9.5/10)
The opening theme is surprisingly great, though there are some problems in the ending theme, like IcehawkDown said, it is very perky and cheerful. It is sometimes not apt for the serious dramatic scenes, like in the second half.
The Soundtrack, as expected, is phenomenal. Hitomi Kuroishi has done what she does best in Planetes too, the other project of hers would be Code Geass.

    Value: (10/10)
In my opinion, this show has passed all my expectations and surely deserves a Killer 10. I initially downloaded this, but now I am going to buy the Blu-ray Box set of this. To sum it up, I completed this show within 4 days, which is quite fast for me, you can understand it's value by yourself now.

    Enjoyment: (10/10)
This is by far the most enjoyable anime for me after Death Note and Welcome to the NHK. It touched on a lot of things - one's hopes, dreams, sense of justice, and even delved into what it means to "love someone". After completing this series, you'll be wondering with yourself - "Why in the hell was I born so early? I want to be in 2075" or at least you'll be thinking of experiencing "Space" yourself.

    Overall: (10/10)
You can witness yourself How moved I am by watching this. It has got to be the best anime of 2003/04. This series should be more popular, it's way too much underrated to have #87 rank here at MAL, it deserves to be in Top 10, at least.

Cute. Sweet. Fantasy. Love. These are the words I would use to describe this series. In fact, these words FORM Cardcaptor Sakura. This series is so full of sugar one can't help but feel happy. If you noticed, I didn’t add the word ‘young’. That’s because this series is not meant for children only. Adults will love it all the same. Also, there are many adult indications which does not make this series as innocent as it seems. Think twice before calling CCs a ‘kids’ show’.

The artwork is a lot simpler and cleaner compared to previous CLAMP works, but that’s not the bad part. More often than not, some characters would look distorted, thus the reduction of points here. The animation sequences are fluid and the colors used fit the world of Sakura nicely. I didn’t really like the repeated sequence when Sakura calls in the power of her card though. It could get draggy at times. Overall, the graphics are pleasing.

The opening and endings themes are so addictive they’ve been on my mind for a looong time. All of them carry the ‘cute’ factor, especially the few songs in the series which are sung by the voice actors themselves. The background music pieces are prominent and fit the moods well, even if the may be overused too many times.

It's a simple story with a simple concept. CLAMP have outdone themselves when they made this simple story into a wonderful enjoyment for all ages. The start may be a bit slow and slight turn-off, but during the later half of the series, things really get exciting and that's where the magic begins. There are many morals in this series, which will leave you feeling all fuzzy and warm inside at times. The story as a whole is well-planned and executed, and the twists are not too bewildering that it’ll shock us. Relationships here play a big role in making the story. Whether it’s romance, kinship or friendship, each is played out in a harmonious way that fits the world of Sakura perfectly. However, not everyone can stand the sweetness of this series, so be prepared.

Who can NOT love Sakura? Her cute expressions, her ‘Hoe~~’, her determination and bright personality draw us to her, makes us love her. Her obsessive friend Tomoyo, the cute and grumpy Xiao Ran and the ever-hungry Kerochan are all well-developed and rich in personality. Then there’s the adults: her loving father, protective brother and his gentle friend. Each and every character is so lovable you'll feel a 'Squee~' in your heart everytime you see one of their cute scenes. The script along with good expressions and dialogues make this show one of the most enjoyable anime in history. However, the only drawback would be the children think too much like adults. One can’t help but think if they’re really 5th graders…

This series is worth re-watching if you don’t mind going through 70 episodes again. Some are really funny while others are exciting and touching. I highly recommend everyone to give this a try, and if you like it, get the whole set. There is a lot of substance in this seemingly simple anime series.

I cannot think of a reason not to enjoy this show, unless you don’t like its genre or sugary content in the first place. The morals in CCS are what make the watch worthwhile. Looking at Sakura and her friends can bring us back to our childhood days, make us feel innocent again. There are many important things in life that we may have overlooked and CCS reminds us of those in the simplest way – through Sakura.

Dragonball is great story of a boy in search of strength, companions, and adventures. Goku, an orphan boy with a tale, is raised by a hermit by the name of Gohan. Gohan is Goku's first master who teaches him of the marshall arts. However, more importantly, sets an example of morals, such as honesty and integrity. Goku personifies these virtous throughout the series, showing some of the great aspects of the Martial Arts.

As You first begin watching dragon ball you see great animation and scenery. The characters are drawn rather round, creating an atmosphere of drawing that is aimed towards younger audiences. As the story progresses so does the art. They add more and more detail every episode. Unlike other animes where the animation is great only for key points in the story, Dragonball is a great example for dedication to animation following a constant improvement towards the series.

Sorry to say but the music in this anime is fairly corny. For today's time I should say, but one can't knock it for the time it was created. Even so it works. The music does not get annoying with repetition, which is a big plus.

The character development is not the strongest I've seen in an anime. I believe the development of the main characters is vital for any good story. Short or long. Physically it's great development of all the character, but the mental state of the character does not change greatly. Which I can understand with the perfect 8 year old character it's a bit difficult to improve his way of being.

Dragonball is an anime for all age groups, everyone can enjoy the humble warm hearted Goku, and his innocence to the world that he presents. The foundation for this anime is its' morals. Therefore if you can enjoy a story of the balance mind, body, and soul. If you enjoy the good guy doing the right thing. You cannot go wron with this story.

Overall this is a spectacular anime. I would recommend it to anyone, especially if they are fairly young in their anime experience.

Detective Conan follows Kudou Shinichi who was turned back into a kid by a mysterious drug which he was forced to take by an evil group known as the black organisation. Now having to hide his identity by calling himself conan and living with his childhood friend Ran and her idiotic private detective father, Shinichi must try to bring down the organisation that tried to kill him while solving all of the most baffling crimes that comes his way.

The general story of this show is not its strongest element with it being a bit difficult to believe but luckily it doesn't come up that often, were this show really shines is in the amazingly original and often genius crimes that are committed and the equally amazing way in which Conan is able to solve them using pure logic just like Holmes. Each crime is a work of art in its own way and a joy to try to solve, there no better feeling than being able to work out one of these often difficult crimes.

The art for the first 200 episodes is obviously not the best as its from the 1990s with rough sketches and little to no CG, but it is what it is and is certainly able to be looked past. After about episode 250, the art gets progressively better and more enjoyable.

The sound of detective Conan absolutely fantastic and it fits in really well from creepy music when a murder is about to lively jazz when they case is solved and its a job well done.

Detective Conan has a very wide array of characters, from cops with secret loves, idiot private detectives, karate kicking school girls and sophisticated master thieves this shows got it all and before long you realize that you've fallen in love with them all.

Overall detective Conan is one of my top 5 anime which even after 500 episodes still manages to surprise and amaze, with its great characters, stunning cases, beautiful sound, increasingly better art work and good humor this show is a must for everyone.
