Kikusui Umehachi is short for his age, clumsy with women, and generally not outstanding in any way. Yet recently, he has found himself with a beautiful, intelligent and... clingy... girlfriend, Kuyou Koyuki. Umehachi doesn't question his good fortune, but his friends have to wonder what Koyuki sees in Umehachi. And indeed, Koyuki has an ulterior motive for dating Umehachi. She's a clairvoyant, and though he doesn't realize it, he is a "psychic amplifier".
