story - it's quite typical, boy is weak, boy grow strong, boy meet enemies, boy defeat enemies, boy grows stronger, defeat more enemies, stronger, enemies.. you get the picture. normally i would rate this a 5/10 for it's typicalness, but the martial arts depicted in this anime is actually real (mostly) and you can tell the author spends time researching his stuff, so +2 points for authenticity.
animation - nicely done, although not as nice as some of the other studios out there like bones or madhouse studio, it is nicely done in it's own right.. though the large boobs and ass could use abit of toning done.. and sometimes the martial arts stance looks like a i want to poop now stance.. but all in all, nicely done.
sound - this is where i felt HSD is lacking, the sounds were alright, punches and kicks sounds like what they're supposed to in a shounen anime but the one thing i hated the most is the lack of climatic music, the ED just didnt fit in with the climatic moments of the anime.. it always ruins the moment for me and i hate it when im totally absorbed in an episode, and the music starts, my concentration got broken and i felt like wanting to throw my laptop to my friends head.
character - your typical shounen type character, not that i have a problem with it though since each and every one of them are unique and has their own martial arts technique. overall, every character is memorable and most of them are even likable (hermit ftw!)
enjoyment - well this might be abit bias, but being a chinese guy, i am really engrossed in the world of martial arts, and this anime, with it's authenticity, truly made me enjoyed it alot.
encode - nicely done, SUPER great quality for it's size. thanks kmonmoy.
Animation - is really good especially when you consider consistency and the reflection of the character development. The physical changes experienced by the main character are clearly reflected in the design changes (i.e. muscles). However, while the animation itself is good, the picture quality could be better
Sound - The voice cast is impeccable as is the music (which is used to reflect on what is happening on the screen), but the sound effects can be slightly oversimplified.
Story - One of the best aspects of this anime is the story. Specifically - the story progression. Unlike some other action animes
Characters For an action anime the characters are quite unique as it draws on the usual clichés but with refreshing changes. For starters the main character (Kenichi) is not an orphan but rather a part of a fully functional nuclear family while his love interest (Miu) is in fact much more powerful than him and tends to treat him... well... not as a guy that's for sure! The supporting cast are there for a reason, especially the masters who switch from insightful to just plain weird within moments
Enjoyment - I am big fan of action and martial arts and this anime for me was a joy to watch
